As I said at the NDR, I didn’t know what Zoom was before last year. Today, it has become a household word. Many Singaporeans use it for school and work meetings.
We couldn’t gather for the Rally in the usual way, with a large crowd seated together in an auditorium. But Zoom let us mimic the experience virtually. It definitely felt different addressing a hybrid audience. But being able to see everyone’s faces, on the screens if not physically present, helped me to connect and build rapport with them.
The pandemic has accelerated the adoption of technology, and made it even more a part of our lives. Using digital technologies to solve problems and improve lives is part of being a Smart Nation, and we will ensure that no one is left behind in this digital transformation. – LHL
